South African raisins touted as perfect festive treat

By: RED Communications

South African raisins are a premium product with little-to-no residue levels. They are bursting with flavour and natural goodness, and are versatile enough to be enjoyed on their own as a snack or incorporated into festive sharing and snacking boards.

Raisins also make a tasty ingredient in a wide range of December dishes, from mince pies, strudel, biscuits and Bundt cake to Christmas rice and even baked camembert with sage and raisin sausage rolls.

Trade body Raisins SA is highlighting the benefits of South African product in its Christmas social media messaging, which focuses on the unique selling points (USP’s) of the country’s crop, as well as sharing Christmas recipes for consumers to try at home.

Those USP’s include the fact that South Africa’s hot, dry climate means fewer chemicals are needed for raisin production as disease and pest pressure is lower, meaning little-to-no residue levels. Bursting with flavour and naturally sundried, the premium, high-quality products are sustainably produced by dedicated, experienced farmers.

Ferdie Botha, chief executive of Raisins SA, said: “Christmas is a time to enjoy delicious food with your family, and raisins are perfect to eat either as a healthy snack or as a delicious, indulgent ingredient in a wide range of popular festive dishes. When they buy South Africa raisins, consumers can be assured they are getting a product grown to the highest possible standards and with social and environmental responsibility to the fore.”
